The Edition No. 14

DeepSeek upgraded its Flash model to DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 on Saturday, saying it improves reasoning, coding, agentic and visual tasks while cutting task runtime and output length, and it published the weights on Hugging Face. The new version now powers DeepSeek’s website, app and API at unchanged prices, and the company also opened its in-house search engine to developers through new Search and Fetch APIs. Separately, China on Friday proposed export controls on 23 AI technologies, including large models, agents and computing clusters, Reuters reported, although access through APIs, apps and websites would not count as an export and public comments are open until 15 November.
