The Edition No. 26

Alphabet shares fell nearly 12% on Thursday and were on track for their steepest one-day drop on record, after the Google parent reported disappointing search advertising results and a surge in cash burn as AI-related spending accelerated, Reuters reported. French startup Mistral released its Large 4 model to the public, an open-weight model that anyone can download and run, which the company says is designed to help organisations find and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Separately, Reuters reported that voters in 38 US jurisdictions will consider at least 41 measures to delay, ban or restrict data centers in next Tuesday’s midterm elections, reflecting growing local opposition to the AI buildout.
