The Edition No. 22

Brazilians voted on Sunday in a presidential runoff marked by disputes over artificial intelligence, with the electoral court banning new AI-generated content featuring candidates from 72 hours before the vote until 24 hours after polls close. Fact-checking agency Lupa counted 1,423 AI-made or AI-altered election posts between mid-August and October 22, 716 of them involving deepfakes, and more than half carried no AI label. Separately, the UK government said it will spend £100 million on a new AI Biosecurity Lab to detect biological threats earlier and speed up vaccines and treatments, backed by up to £200 million in model credits from OpenAI and Anthropic.
